We'll look at some the common and uncommon municipal tax issues on both the entities' returns and the owners' returns. On the entity side, we'll briefly explore the required municipal tax adjustments hidden behind the "as if the taxpayer were a C corporation" code language of ORD 718.01(E) that no tax preparation software handled correctly in prior years, and that were overlooked 95% of the time when manually completing a PTE return. On the owner side, we'll take a deep look at the various ways municipal regulations deal with loss offsets when a taxpayer has multiple sources of taxable non-wage income, and how a taxpayer can lose the tax benefit of their NOLs as a result. We'll also touch on some complex issues like technical terminations and disguised wages. Finally we'll discuss how to use KISS to effectively represent your clients before a tax administrator if that administrator disagrees with your treatment of a PTE issue. Presented by Richard Donnelly.
