Summary
In this continuation of our series on the Johnson family’s tax situations, we focus on Gen Z - those navigating pivotal life stages from ages 13 to 28 in 2025. A tax professional working with this generation should understand their unique characteristics and needs. As Gen Zers start earning and managing money, key tax issues they face may include withholding certificates, education credits and student loans. The withholding certificate may also be relevant for those entering the workforce directly after high school.
Objectives
Upon completion of this article the learner should be able to:
- Identify issues facing a family with Gen Z family members
- Summarize the key items of the American Opportunity Tax Credit (AOTC) and the Lifetime Learning Credit (LLC)
- Explain how to complete Form W-4
Exam Details
Materials will include Gen Z - Form W-4, Education Credits and Student Loans article, printable exam questions for study purposes and the online exam. CPE will be issued after the exam is successfully completed.
