Summary​

Having a written information security plan (WISP) for your firm is both a requirement and an essential tool to ensure your firm and its data is protected. In this interactive workshop, we will briefly review the critical need for firm security and invest significant time in designing a plan tailored to your firm. Participants can expect to leave the workshop with a strong understanding of the required components of a security plan. A template will be provided and used as a hands-on guide for participants to complete their WISP or conduct an annual update.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

• Identify basic terminology related to data security and how it applies to the tax preparation industry
• Execute a plan to protect your client data including ensuring compliance with your insurance providers
• Update and modify a security plan to account for in-person and virtual needs and risks
• Create a plan to ensure your written information security plan stays up to date
• Create a checklist and plan for ongoing updates and maintenance of your security plan
