The National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP) is the largest nonprofit organization that serves individuals specializing in tax preparation by providing tax education, federal tax research, in-depth explanations of tax law change and other important tax content needed to successfully run a tax practice. Our experts are available for phone, video or in-person interviews (when applicable) to discuss federal tax law and its effects on U.S. taxpayers and tax preparer regulation. 


Tom O'Saben
Tom O'Saben, EA, is the director of tax content and government relations at NATP. O’Saben has been working in the tax industry for more than 30 years, with more than 25 of those working as a tax preparer.

Prior to his current position at NATP, O’Saben taught a variety of tax topics to NATP members across the country. O’Saben’s knowledge of the industry and implementation of tax law was also demonstrated when he worked as the assistant director of the Tax School program at the University of Illinois beginning in 2019.

O’Saben earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in political science and is currently enrolled in a master’s program concentrating in adult education.

O’Saben has an enrolled agent designation. He is available for interviews to discuss federal tax topics including tax law change and its implications, taxpayer issues, tax preparer regulation and more.

Scott Artman, CPA, CGMA, is the chief executive officer of NATP and joined the association in 2016. Artman is responsible for executing the organization’s policies, programs and strategic initiatives. He leads more than 50 staff members who provide tax information, education, federal tax research and other forms of support for 23,000 NATP members and the greater tax preparation industry. Artman also serves as an ex officio member of the national board and works in concert with the board of directors to determine and execute the mission and vision of NATP.

Prior to his current position, Artman served as the Chief Risk and Volunteer Management Officer for ISACA, a leading global provider of certifications, community, advocacy and education on information systems assurance and security, enterprise governance and management of IT and IT-related risk and compliance.

Artman graduated from Illinois State University with a bachelor's degree in accounting and is a certified public accountant and chartered global management accountant.
